Getting Started
-
People come to us for many reasons. Some are planning ahead for their own care. Others are helping someone they love who's seriously ill. And some simply know they don't want to face this alone. Whatever brings you here, we're glad you reached out.
-
Not at all. Many people begin this process while they’re still healthy. Whether you’re planning ahead, facing a diagnosis, or supporting someone else, if you’re thinking about it—that’s a good sign it’s time to start.
-
We begin with a free 30-minute phone call. You'll share what's happening in your life, and we'll talk about ways we might help. We'll ask a few questions, and you'll get a feel for how we work.
We'll also talk through logistics—like location, availability, and whether in-person or virtual support makes the most sense for you. There's no commitment—just a thoughtful conversation. -
We’ll figure that out together. If you're planning ahead, Advance Care Planning might be the right fit. If someone is near the end of life, our End-of-Life Guidance includes everything you need. Need support as a caregiver? That’s where Relief for Caregivers comes in. Want to plan meaningful final days? That’s Vigil Planning.
-
We're based in Park Slope, Brooklyn (11215) and primarily serve Brooklyn and Manhattan. For in-person services, we generally work within about an hour's commute via public transit—which covers most of Brooklyn and Manhattan, and parts of Queens. If you're outside this area but need support, we can talk through options during your free consultation to see what might be possible based on your needs and location.
How We Help
-
We offer emotional, practical, and planning support around death and dying. That might include sharing your healthcare wishes, working on legacy projects, preparing loved ones, or simply being present during hard moments.
-
We lead with warmth, honesty, and respect. We listen closely and meet you exactly where you are—without judgment or pressure.
-
We’re not doctors or nurses, so we don’t provide medical or hands-on care. But we often collaborate with hospice, palliative care, and medical teams. We help ensure your voice is heard and your wishes are honored.
-
Yes. We can help you prepare for conversations with loved ones—especially about care decisions, advance directives, or your final wishes. These talks can feel heavy, but you don’t have to do them alone.
How It Works
-
Yes. We’ll guide you through what’s most important to you and help you complete the right forms. While we don’t provide legal advice, we can connect you with an attorney if needed.
-
Yes. The advance directive forms we use are legal in your state. They clearly show your wishes and can help guide your care if you can’t speak for yourself. If you need a will, trust, or other legal documents, you’ll need to talk with a lawyer. We can help you find one if you’d like.
-
Yes. We work with people facing all kinds of health conditions—like cancer, dementia, ALS, or heart disease. Your diagnosis doesn’t determine whether we can help—it just helps us tailor our support to your needs. We also work with people who aren’t sick but want to plan ahead, and with those caring for someone else.
-
We welcome people from all backgrounds and beliefs. We take time to learn what’s important to you and your family, and we honor your cultural, spiritual, or faith-based traditions as part of our care.
-
Absolutely. We affirm and support people of all genders, sexualities, and family structures. Your identity, relationships, and chosen family are respected here—always.
-
No problem. We work with people virtually across the U.S. While we offer in-person support in Brooklyn and Manhattan, most services can be done online. For in-person services, we primarily work within Brooklyn and Manhattan—generally within about an hour of Park Slope via public transit. We’ll talk through location and format during your free consultation to determine the best way to work together. If needed, we can help connect you with local support in your area.
-
We’re not a 24/7 service, but for clients who are actively dying, we’re often available by phone outside regular hours. We’ll talk about what’s possible during your first meeting.
-
That’s completely normal. You can update your preferences at any time. We encourage check-ins after big life changes—updates are usually simple and straightforward.
Our Services
-
Most people spend 3–4 hours across 2–3 sessions. You can move at your own pace and bring loved ones—especially your chosen healthcare agent—if you’d like.
-
We support you with advance care planning, vigil planning, caregiver breaks, legacy projects, and working alongside your care team. Most people start with 10 hours of support per week for 4 weeks, but we can adjust the timing and services to fit what matters most to you.
-
We offer up to 4 hours of non-medical support so caregivers can rest, recharge, or attend to personal needs. We provide calm presence, conversation, and comfort during that time. This is included in the End-of-Life Guidance service as well.
-
Anytime. Whether your final days are near or still far off, vigil planning helps reduce anxiety and gives loved ones clarity and confidence in how to support you.
-
Not at all. Some clients are healthy and planning ahead. Others are living with serious illness or supporting someone who is dying. We meet people at many different points in the journey.
-
Legacy work looks different for everyone. Some people write letters, record stories, or create keepsakes for loved ones. Others reflect on their values or plan rituals. We’ll support you in finding what feels meaningful.
Cost & Access
-
We believe end-of-life planning should be accessible to everyone. Our four price levels reflect different financial situations, and everyone receives the same care, attention, and respect—no matter what they pay. We don’t ask for paperwork or proof. During your consultation, we’ll help you choose the tier that feels right.
-
Please reach out—we’re committed to making this work accessible. We may be able to offer a payment plan or use our community care fund to help cover costs.
-
Packages include everything you need at one clear price. If you need additional time after your package ends, we offer hourly support. We’ll go over all your options during our call.
-
For most Brooklyn and Manhattan locations within about an hour of Park Slope via public transit, there's no travel fee. If your location requires driving or significantly longer travel time, we’ll talk this through during your free consultation and discuss any small travel fee based on your specific needs.
Working With Loved Ones
-
You don’t have to—but it often helps. And when we say loved ones, we mean anyone in your circle of support: chosen family, close friends, or caregivers. It’s up to you who’s involved.
-
We’ve supported many families through this. We’ll make sure your wishes are clearly understood and help your loved ones work through any differences with care and respect.
-
We know how demanding this role can be, and we’re here for your entire care circle. We offer short-term respite through our Relief for Caregivers service, and caregiver support is built into all of our End-of-Life Guidance packages.
-
That’s completely okay! Many people feel unsure when they first reach out. That’s why we start with a conversation—to hear your story and explore how we might help.
